Ezine Articles

Before I continue I would like to say that, I have no grudge or disrespect for Ezine articles and its ezines. Ezine articles is one of the most popular free article submission site. There are many more sites that offer the service of free article submission. The site hosts the articles consisting of text only. The articles should be at the minimum 250 words long. The content must be unique and not copied from anywhere else. The uniqueness of content ensures that pages are indexed high by Google and other such search engines. This also gives high page rank to ezine article main site. Articles are supposed to be reviewed manually by a human before submission in the site. Fly High!! Book Cheap air tickets at affordable rates. If you have been writing for ezine articles or other such free article submission sites, where there is no provision for posting your own ads or adsense revenue sharing model, then I believe you have wasted much of your time and energy.

Why we write for Ezine articles Before getting in depth, let us first analyze why we write for ezine article. The only answer is for getting backlinks and some traffic. Every article can have 1 or 2 backlinks to author’s site or his affiliate site. This is done in order to have high page rank by getting quality backlinks to the site. Since the content is unique and theme of the page matches with that of page getting links, It is believed that the backlink vote will count to the pagerank. So , the sole purpose of writing ‘unique’, ‘quality’, ‘informative’ articles for ezine articles is to get back links ( we still do not know how Google sees that link).

Why should not write for Ezine articles Writing for ezine articles just for getting backlinks is not worth time. One should write for site that provides not only backlinks but also some money with traffic on the page. There are various sites that have ‘adsense revenue sharing model’ where you will be paid for your articles if visitors clicks on google ads on your page. Hubpages is such a site that not only let you earn through adsense but also EBay, Amazon and Kontera ads. You keep the 100% of revenue through EBay, Amazon and Kontera ads where as adsense revenue is shared in ratio of 40:60. You keep the 60 percent of shares. You can also link pages of your blog and sites with your hub published on hubpage. So with hubpages and similar sites you not only get traffic and backlinks but also some cash.

Superiority of Hubpages over Ezine articles. In ezine articles you can post only text articles. The articles have nothing but words and words. On contrary you can post images, ads, rss feed and many others on Hubpages. As far as page rank is concerned both have almost equal page rank of 6 or 7, so nothing to worry about quality of backlinks. Hubpages too asks its members to post unique articles. More over Hubpage is more user friendly. It provides details about no of visits to each of your hubpages and many other things. There is forum, idea bank and many other things.

Your hard writing is cashed by ezine articles Let us now suppose that there are 10 million articles on ezine articles. Since each article consists of simple words only, each page will occupy at the most 10 KB. So total amount of disk space required for hosting these articles is 10*10,000,000= 100,000,000 KB = 100 GB! .You must have more hard disk in your PC. Let me tell you that any normal hosting plan offers much more capability than what it is mentioned over here. Now let us assume that 10% of articles is viewed every day, and then no of views comes out to be 1,000,000 pages every day. Now let us assume that these pages have a very low CTR of 2% with $ 0.2 CPC, then actual earning per day comes out to be .02*1,000,000*.2 =$ 4000 per day. And remember all these figures are taken keeping the scale on lower limit. The actual earning can be much, much more than what it is presented over here. And all these earning comes from your hardwork.

Conclusion: Its better if you write for hubpages or other such similar sites, because it not only provides you quality links and traffic but also some cash.

Interesting hub! I was a Platinum author at Ezine and gave up writing there as the number of clicks that actually do come from the site to a website are pointless. Within the two weeks I have been here I have had more article views and a much more pleasant experience.

Thanks for the thoughtful comparison! I am switching over for a different reason. EA alters my anchor text even though it is 100% in compliance with their rules. In the author box I will write something like "For more information on keyword1 and keyword2, please visit Website.com" where Website.com is not a link - just text. But EA eliminates the link from one of the keywords and puts it on the website name, thereby depriving me of keyword SEO. As proof that I am not violating their rules, they do it in *some* of my articles - not all. I will delete my articles and transfer them over to Hubpages.

Thanks. I was thinking about Ezine, but you have changed my mind. Doesn't seem worth the time.

But the articles are of quality, and thus unlike hubpages they are not considered as content farms. But again, it is not worth to write only for links and traffic.

The best approach now-a-days is to write guest posts instead.

At least it enables you to be more social able in blogosphere in addition.

I've been writing articles and posting them onto ezine and similar high page rank article sites for about three months now, with the objective of gaining some quality backlinks for my website.

Strange thing is, none of the new 'live' back-links are showing up in SEO Spyglass or similar back-link check software! This is despite my 'pinging' the link pages and checking each article to make sure that the back-links are working properly.

Some of the forums and blogs suggest that I ignore this and just keep posting articles regardless!? Sorry guys, my time and yours is much more valuable and to keep posting on the grounds of 'faith' in Google seems very naive?

Even after researching the business of obtaining back-links via article posting, the 'science' is very unclear, with most 'facts' actually being based on personal opinion and wishful guesswork, not hard evidence.

I would be so grateful to see some real 'good science' whereby the results of adding article based back-links is properly measured, evaluated and then published.

Otherwise it's just more 'smoke and mirrors' for all of us!

I hope that readers of this comment will not take it as a total criticism of information published on the internet, it most definitely isn't. I'm grateful and appreciative of anyone who takes the time and makes the effort to offer some advice. I'd just like to see the advice based on more provable facts and good quality research, which gives more chance of the advice being accurate and not unintentionally misleading?

I noticed that quality and well ranked hubpages hubs are well ranked compared to others. My own guess is that google keeps the article's link and pagerank juice on one page only. For example, if a good written article is doing well on hubpages due to the site authority on the topic, hubpages gets to keep the page rank and link juice whereas the linked to page is considered secondary (not duplicate) only.

But it is possible your original page gets a boost from hubpages if it is also well linked from outside.

Sorry Canada classifieds, your comments above prove my point! You use the words 'My own guess' and go on to state that hubpages gets the link juice in some circumstances, all without any evidence to back this up! We need to tighten things up and get scientific / factual about SEO, otherwise we are at the mercy of the moneymakers and theorists out there. Our time is too valuable to experiment on such a nebulous subject.

Apologies to Canada Classified if this comes across as me being a little self righteous in 'print', it's not meant to be a personal criticism, just a plea for us all to be more focused and accurate when we come to give out opinions and guidance about SEO.
